As I was waking up this morning the Lord put this question in my spirit. The question is very simple but very complicated. It is actually a three-part question. You must first answer the first part before you can consider the 2^nd ,and 3^rd parts:

Here is the first question: Is God sovereign?

King James Version (KJV), the term "sovereign" is most often used as an adjective to describe God as the "Sovereign LORD" or "Sovereign King," meaning He possesses supreme and absolute authority, ultimate power, and complete control over all things, according to his own good pleasure. This concept is foundational to Christian theology, implying that nothing can thwart God's plans or purposes, and He has the rightful authority to rule and govern His creation. 

In Daniel Chapter 4 we see the Testimony of king Nebuchadnezzar (The Great) regarding the power and sovereignty of God.

Daniel 4:28-37

King James Version

²⁸ All this came upon the king Nebuchadnezzar.

²⁹ At the end of twelve months he walked in the palace of the kingdom of Babylon.

³⁰ The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty?

³¹ While the word was in the king's mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee.

³² And they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field: they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.

³³ The same hour was the thing fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar: and he was driven from men, and did eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till his hairs were grown like eagles' feathers, and his nails like birds' claws.

³⁴ And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation:

³⁵ And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?

³⁶ At the same time my reason returned unto me; and for the glory of my kingdom, mine honour and brightness returned unto me; and my counsellors and my lords sought unto me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent majesty was added unto me.

³⁷ Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.

Paul speaks of God’s sovereign power in the book of Romans:

Romans 9:15-23

¹⁵ For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.

¹⁶ So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.

¹⁷ For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.

¹⁸ Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.

¹⁹ Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will?

²⁰ Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?

²¹ Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?

²² What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:

²³ And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,

Revelation 1:9-20

⁹ I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.

¹⁰ I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,

¹¹ Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.

¹⁹ Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter;

²⁰ The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.

***The first point of the message today: God is sovereign in our past, present and future.

*So we have answered the first question: Is God sovereign. The 2^nd question is: If God is sovereign, can I trust him with my future?

I was listening to National Public Radio yesterday afternoon and I heard a person talking about the social media post this past week where a person claimed that God told him Christ was going to return on September 23-24. It is always interesting to hear non-believers try to explain the promise of Jesus return. Actually it is kind of interesting to hear church attending believers explain the details of Christ return.

Lets take a quick pole here in the service on some of the details of Christ return:

Matthew 24:35-51

³⁵ Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

³⁶ But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

³⁷ But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

³⁸ For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,

**We started off this message with a couple of questions:

Here is the first question: Is God sovereign?

The 2^nd question is: If God is sovereign, can I trust him with my future?

The 3^rd question is: If God is sovereign, can I trust him with my present?

You see it is really easy to trust God with the past we have walked through to bring us to where we are today. It is really easy to trust God with the future because we are not surrounded by the reality of it yet. But we are living and breathing right now. Bills are due right now. Relationships are broken right now. Healing is needed right now. Mental battles are waging right now. Hungry is happening right now.

My Friends I have good news for you today. God is not just the God of your past, God is not just the God of your Future. God is the God of right now. Yes you can trust God with your present.

Moses standing at the burning bush and God is telling him about his future and what he wants Moses to go do and say. Moses says to God, I do not even know your name. God says to him I Am that I Am.

God says it is my very nature of my very name that I am constant and I am all that you need yesterday, today and forever.
