This morning, very early before the son came up the Lord spoke to me from a scripture that I had used in the message last week.

If you were not here last week I encourage you to go home and listen to the message so you can understand the full context and background of the message today. Since it is not practical to do that at this moment I will give you a brief summary of the points from last week and where we are jumping off from:

Points from the message last Sunday 2/8/2026

***The first point of the Message this morning: God created your soul and gave you the breath of life.

***The 2nd point of the Message today: It is the breath of God that sustains your life.

**Point #3 of the message today: There is a connection between the Soul, Spirit and the body that is loosed in physical death.

***Point #4 of the message today: Be careful who you fellowship and eat with as it opens your soul and spirit to that person.

***Point #5 of the message today: It is through the power of your words that the soul is expressed.

***This morning the Lord spoke to me two scriptures that jump off from point #5 from last week’s message:

Matthew 11:28-29

28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

Isaiah 28:11-12

11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.

12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.

*** Last week we learned about the power and value of your Soul. We learned that our soul is expressed through our bodies and most powerfully through our mouth and speech.

Hebrews 11:1-3

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

For by it the elders obtained a good report.

Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

John 1:1-3

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

The same was in the beginning with God.

All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

***Last week we talked about the blessing that was given by Issac to Jacob near to the time of his death and how it was spoken after he had eating and opened his Soul to speak out and with his words give the blessing that could not be taken back or changed.

So this morning as I am sleeping the Lord gives me these to scriptures and says look at the “Rest” and “refreshing” that I give and how it is entered into.

You know I love to look up words and find where they are used in the bible. The word has power when we understand it and apply it to our lives. Lets begin with Isaiah 28:11-12

Isaiah 28:11-12

11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.

12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.

***The first time we see this word rest used in the bible is in

Gen 8:4

And H5117 the ark rested H5117 in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat.

***Noah’s ark has been rocking and rolling all over the face of the earth during the flood for 7 months….and now on the 17th day of the 7th month it comes to rest on the mountains of Ararat. Over the past few years, I have seen articles and reports that there is evidence they have found what they believe to be Noah’s ark. It seems like the only logical explanation for remnants of a giant boat on the top of a mountain hundreds of miles away from the ocean.

My friends you life may feel like a ship lost at sea but God has a promise that you are going to find rest. God will bring you to a place of landing and rest.

  Exo 20:11

For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested H5117 the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

My friends the world has deceived many of us into working ourselves to a early grave because we do not follow God’s example and law to physically rest. Now this morning I am not speaking about physical rest alone but what I will tell you is that if your soul is not at rest then you will never have physical rest.

In Exodus Chapter 33 we see Moses interceding with God. The children of Isreal have sinned. They made a golden calf and started worshiping it. God told Moses he was going to destroy all the children of Israel and start over with Moses and his children. Moses says do not do it God. What would people say about you……. Then God says okay Moses I will not destroy them but I cannot work with these people. I will send my angel. Moses says. God, that is not good enough. That will not do. If your presence does not go with us then do not lead us one more step. Listen to God’s response:

Exo 33:14

And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.

***1st point of the message this morning: It is in God’s presence that we find rest for our soul.

Last week we talked about the connection between your Soul, Body and Spirit. As I look at the word of God it appears clear to me that God made us with these three parts. In the old testament the Holy Spirit of God would come upon a select few: Mostly prophets, priest and kings. It does not appear that the holy spirit filled in the way that we are filled with the Holy Spirit now that Jesus has given us salvation and we are washed and cleansed by his blood.

Num 11:25 God takes part of his spirt that is on Moses and puts on the 70 elders

And the LORD came down in a cloud, and spake unto him, and took of the spirit that was upon him, and gave it unto the seventy elders: and it came to pass, that, when H5117 the spirit rested H5117 upon them, they prophesied, and did not cease.

In the book of 1st Samuel chapter 16 we see a story about King Saul after he had disobeyed the prophet of God and then made excuses instead of humbling himself and repenting. The bible makes it clear that God took his spirit (the Holy) spirit away.

1 Samuel 16:14-23

14 But the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the Lord troubled him.

15 And Saul's servants said unto him, Behold now, an evil spirit from God troubleth thee.

16 Let our lord now command thy servants, which are before thee, to seek out a man, who is a cunning player on an harp: and it shall come to pass, when the evil spirit from God is upon thee, that he shall play with his hand, and thou shalt be well.

17 And Saul said unto his servants, Provide me now a man that can play well, and bring him to me.

18 Then answered one of the servants, and said, Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, that is cunning in playing, and a mighty valiant man, and a man of war, and prudent in matters, and a comely person, and the Lord is with him.

19 Wherefore Saul sent messengers unto Jesse, and said, Send me David thy son, which is with the sheep.

20 And Jesse took an ass laden with bread, and a bottle of wine, and a kid, and sent them by David his son unto Saul.

21 And David came to Saul, and stood before him: and he loved him greatly; and he became his armourbearer.

22 And Saul sent to Jesse, saying, Let David, I pray thee, stand before me; for he hath found favour in my sight.

23 And it came to pass, when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul, that David took an harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him.

***1st point of the message this morning: It is in God’s presence that we find rest for our soul.

2nd point of the message today: Worship, Singing and Music unto the Lord can bring rest to your soul.

***Side note and not a main point of the Message but we need to understand that God created everything…including evil:

Isaiah 45:5-7

I am the Lord, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me:

That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the Lord, and there is none else.

I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things.

There was a time when God wanted to judge the evil king Ahab. Ahab and Jehoshaphat, King of Juda are planning to combine forces and go up against the King of Syria in Battle. All the King’s prophets said go up and you will win….. but King Jehoshaphat said are there any other prophets we can ask.

And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may enquire of the Lord: but I hate him; for he doth not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.

Micaiah tells the king all your other prophets were lying and here is why:

1 Kings 22:20-23

20 And the Lord said, Who shall persuade Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramothgilead? And one said on this manner, and another said on that manner.

21 And there came forth a spirit, and stood before the Lord, and said, I will persuade him.

22 And the Lord said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt persuade him, and prevail also: go forth, and do so.

23 Now therefore, behold, the Lord hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the Lord hath spoken evil concerning thee.

***Continuing to look at Rest in the Old Testament: Prophecy of Jesus coming in book of Isaiah.

And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:

Tools

Isa 11:2

And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;

Tools

Isa 11:3

And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:

***1st point of the message this morning: It is in God’s presence that we find rest for our soul.

2nd point of the message today: Worship, Singing and Music unto the Lord can bring rest to your soul.

Isa 14:7

The whole earth is at rest, and is quiet: they break forth into singing.

Isa 28:12

To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause H5117 the weary to rest; H5117 and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.

Isaiah 28:11-12

11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.

12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.

**Point #3 of the Message this morning: Praying in the Holy Ghost builds up your faith and brings you into God’s rest and refreshing.

In Isaiah 28 11-12 the Prophet speaks of a rest and a refreshing that God gives to his people. At least God tries to give it to them but many will not accept it. Verse 11 describes stammering lips and another tongue as the way God will speak to his people. I believe this is the way the prophet Isaiah is describing the gift of the infilling of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues. But I caution you not to ever look at one scripture alone to support your belief but to see the harmony of God’s word expressed in both the old testament and new testament.

Ezekiel 36:26-28

26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.

27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

 Zephaniah 3:8-9

Therefore wait ye upon me, saith the Lord, until the day that I rise up to the prey: for my determination is to gather the nations, that I may assemble the kingdoms, to pour upon them mine indignation, even all my fierce anger: for all the earth shall be devoured with the fire of my jealousy.

For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of the Lord, to serve him with one consent.

John 7:37-39

37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.

38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

Jude 17-21

17 But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ;

18 How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.

19 These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.

20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,

21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

Romans 8:24-28

24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?

25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.

26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

***1st point of the message this morning: It is in God’s presence that we find rest for our soul.

2nd point of the message today: Worship, Singing and Music unto the Lord can bring rest to your soul.

**Point #3 of the Message this morning: Praying in the Holy Ghost builds up your faith and brings you into God’s rest and refreshing.

*** In closing I want to go to Jesus promise to give us rest:

Matthew 11:28-29

28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

I want to share with you a few other places that word Rest is used and see what we can learn:

Mar 6:31

And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest G373 a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.

***Point #4 of the Message today: Jesus is calling you to come away with him and find rest.

Mat 26:45

Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: G373 behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

***I believe here Jesus is promising his disciples the rest that will come to them after his death, burial and resurrection. He is saying your rest is coming. Your souls will be able to rest for the first time in your life.

Revelation 6:9-11

And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:

10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?

11 And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.

Revelation 14:1-13

And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads.

And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps:

And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth.

These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.

And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.

And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,

Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.

And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.

And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,

10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:

11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.

12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.
